What is accreditation?
Produce traded in the network is guaranteed as local through an accreditation process. It ensures the integrity of the short supply chain and the brand so that both members and consumers can have confidence that:
- goods promoted as a part of the Tropical North Queensland Regional Food Network under the Taste Paradise brand have come directly from the producer into the short supply chain and have not been brought into the region from central markets via a reseller
- value-added goods feature local ingredients as well as being manufactured locally
- retail outlets, tourism operators or food service outlets promoting accredited Tropical North Queensland Regional Food Network members under the Taste Paradise brand are authentically sourcing goods from members through the short supply chain.
The accreditation application asks you specific questions relating to your particular sector (for example, whether you have beef or dairy cows), that provides relevant information about the supply and demand for goods within the network that can be made available to other members to help sell or source goods.
A one-off fee of $66 covers the accreditation process. It is applied to all new memberships and is non-refundable, even if the application for membership is not accepted.
Step 1: Download the membership application form, and fill in your details. Once you have completed the forms, return your application to the regional food network, accompanied by the $66 accreditation processing fee. Your application will be assessed by an accreditation panel and, if accepted, you will be invited to complete the next step of the application which relates to your specific industry. The panel may ask for a site visit.
If your application is rejected you will be notified in writing with an explanation why the application has been rejected. Your $66 accreditation fee is not refundable.
Step 2: Once your application has been accepted, you will need to provide more details about the items you intend to trade in the network.
Step 3: Finally, you will be notified that you can start trading!
Accreditation Time Frame and Annual Fees Payment
Applications for accreditation will be undertaken progressively, with the accreditation committee reviewing applications as demand requires, but at least monthly.
Trading members pay an annual fee at the beginning of the financial year (July 1st) but is charged pro-rata on a quarterly basis.
We look forward to working with you!
